Poppy & Twinkle

Poppy is a little chestnut pony. She was rescued from a sanctuary where the RSPCA had to destroy 40 horses as they were starving. She had been taken there after being found upside down in a ditch on the Somerset levels with her hooves tied together. Unbelievably cruel! She is very nervous (understandably) but is jgaining in confidence bit by bit.

Her friend Twinkle was found in the same sanctuary. She is 10.2 hands and was only 2 years old when I took her on. She is so bright & friendly and loves nuzzling people’s pockets in case they have any treats! I was asked if I would let her work with children at a local riding school. She took to this like a duck to water & is very happy.

Marbles & Indigo

Marbles is a beautiful palomino (creamy colour) pony. He was totally wild when I took him on as the people who bred him were advanced in years & couldn’t do any handling with him. He is very mischievous & a natural jumper so good at getting out of fields! Gradually he has learned to enjoy being handled. The last battle was getting his rear hooves trimmed. It has taken 3 years!! Finally he trusts us enough to let his back feet be picked up leaving him unable to make a run for it! Having an animal trust us is such a privilege.

Indigo is a beautiful black & white gypsy cob. I was asked to take her after it was discovered that she had a rearing habit so is not safe to ride. Other than that she is very easy to handle. She may have been mistreated in the past with the use of “draw reigns” which might account for her rearing. She is Poppy’s friend & has given Poppy a lot of confidence.
