ABOUT CHERISH

Cherish was set up by Caroline Davy as a result of a series of domestic and farm animals needing homes. Over the past 10 years she has taken in animals needing help, deciding to set up a charity in 2018. This led to her realising that sheep are individual characters and having a lot of fun learning more about them.

Going back to 2007, Caroline took on two sheep who otherwise would have been slaughtered. To her horror, one day they jumped over the fence with a whole flock of sheep belonging to the local farmer. This was a turning point in her animal husbandry career as she realised that she could recognise her own sheep's faces from the rest of the flock.

A couple of years later, a local veterinary nurse asked Caroline to take some pigs from a rare breeds farm that had overbred piglets and was now intending to shoot them and so the sanctuary was born.
